Yukon Daffodil Days

Postponed to April 2021

To our Yukon Daffodils Volunteers:

On Monday we received word from the Canadian Cancer Society that they are postponing or cancelling all Daffodil Campaign activities nation-wide. This includes Yukon's Daffodil Campaign. We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to our incredible volunteers who had already started organizing workplace and community campaigns around the territory. We are so grateful to all of you for your support every year and we look forward to Yukon's Daffodil Campaign in 2021!

Some of you have already collected some funds and donations for the purchase of daffodils and daffodil pins. We ask that you return the funds to those donors. Some donors may opt to still donate those funds to the Canadian Cancer Society. If so, donors can support the national campaign at this weblink: donate

Thank you so much for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,
Kari Johnston and Mary Mickey
Statement from the Canadian Cancer Society (March 16, 2020)

The health of Canadians is our priority. No one understands better than us how important it is to contain the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) because the people we represent are at heightened risk. Their care and well-being are being impacted by the virus and our priority is to support them, be good citizens and minimize the impact and duration of the pandemic.
We are actively monitoring the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) regarding COVID-19 and are taking added precautions with many of our programs, which may affect you. We are committed to making sure that all our volunteers are safe while working with us and the populations we serve.

In order to put the well-being and safety of people affected by cancer, our clients, volunteers and staff first, we are currently suspending volunteer activity that places volunteers in any large group or public-facing environments where there may be associated risk, for the immediate term.

In addition, effective immediately we are postponing our traditional Daffodil campaign activities until after the crisis has passed.

All our volunteers right across the country make significant contributions in supporting all aspects of the cancer experience, from driving people with cancer to and from their cancer-related appointments, to sharing their experiences in our peer support programs, to volunteering in our offices and at events, and by creating a home away from home at our lodges or camps. Our volunteers also help us raise much-needed funds to power our mission. For this, we are deeply grateful.
We sincerely thank you for your commitment to CCS’s mission and hope that together we can work through these difficult times and continue serving the people who need us.
